Who we are

Manual Focus is a marketing agency run by James Vickers. Our website address is https://manual-focus.co.uk.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people read, where they came from (for example a search engine, LinkedIn or an AI assistant) and whether they send an enquiry or subscribe to The Lens. We use this only to understand and improve the website.

We have set Google Analytics up for statistics only. Google signals and advertising personalisation are switched off, the data isn't linked to any advertising account, and we don't send Google names, email addresses or anything you type into our forms. Google Analytics records approximate location (town or city), device and browser type, and processes your IP address to do so without storing it. We keep the detailed data for 14 months.

Enquiry form

The enquiry form does not send data anywhere by itself. It opens your own email app with your enquiry drafted, and nothing is sent until you press send. We use the email you send us solely to respond to your enquiry and do not share it with any other parties.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to updates from The Lens, your email address is sent to Kit (formerly ConvertKit), the service we use to send the newsletter. Kit emails you to confirm the subscription before anything else is sent. We use your address only to send The Lens updates, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.

Cookies

The only cookies this website sets are the Google Analytics cookies described above: _ga, which tells visits from the same browser apart, and _ga_C0WR5X8ZPT, which keeps track of the current visit. Both expire after two years. They're used only for statistics about how the site is used, which UK law allows without asking for consent as long as you can opt out, as described above. If you opt out, Google Analytics doesn't load and these cookies aren't set.
