NEW · MANUAL FOCUS LIGHT METER

Light Meter shows which brands AI recommends

Manual Focus Light Meter is our new AI visibility tool, launched in October 2026. It puts the questions your buyers ask to six AI engines, including ChatGPT and Google's AI Mode. Each question runs three times. You see which brands the engines name. You also see which websites they cite. Our first study with it, UK indoor cycling, is open to everyone as an example of what you get.

WHAT LIGHT METER MEASURES

What Light Meter measures

6

Six AI engines, measured separately, because they disagree. In our first study one brand appeared in 43% of Claude's answers and 5% of Google AI Mode's.

×3

Three runs per question, because AI answers change. An engine named the same brands in all three runs only 20% of the time.

95%

A 95% range on every number, so you can tell a real gap from noise before you spend money closing it.

50%+

The websites AI cites. In indoor cycling, editorial sites supplied over half the citations. Light Meter shows which sites decide your category.

HOW IT WORKS

How a Light Meter study works

  1. We write the buyer questions. We write 100 to 300 questions the way UK buyers ask them. Each one is tagged by buying moment, from value and beginner questions to performance and problems.
  2. Light Meter runs them on six AI engines. Each question goes to every engine from a UK location, three times.
  3. We count brands and citations. Light Meter records every brand named and every site cited, then calculates each brand's share with a 95% range.
  4. You get the report. It has the league table with each engine's view. It shows who wins each buying moment and which sites decide it. It ends with clear next steps.
EXAMPLE STUDY

An example study of UK indoor cycling, October 2026

The study covered 309 UK questions across six engines, for 5,562 answers. Wahoo was named in 83% of smart trainer answers. Zwift was named in 88% of training app answers. Cycling media supplied over half the citations. The full report and the article on the findings are open to everyone. You can see exactly what a Light Meter study gives you before you order one.

AI Shortlist card

The card is one page for a brand that's already in a study. It shows how often each engine names the brand. It shows which buying moments the brand wins or loses. It also lists the sites that cite rivals but not the brand, plus the questions it misses.

We measure first. Then we work on the pages and publications that decide your category. Then we measure again to show what moved.

To be open about it, James Vickers has worked with Wahoo and Wattbike. He was on the founding team at RGT Cycling. He works with Ribble Cycles now. Every category audit uses the same method, whoever orders it. We don't change results on request.
